| Entry requirements | This course is currently in teach-out and is not accepting new admissions. A new course, the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (BMedScMD) will be introduced in 2023. This new course will replace the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). For the Current MBBS course For undergraduate applicants - Apply direct to UTAS by the closing date + Sit the UCAT in year 12 ATAR: 95+ Tertiary students: Current tertiary students are eligible to apply. Please visit University of Tasmania website for more details. Subject prerequisites: one of Year 12 English, English Literature, or English Writing, and Chemistry. UCAT - It is compulsory for all domestic applicants to the UTAS MBBS program to sit the UCAT (ANZ) University Clinical Aptitude Test during the year of application. Applicants must also have a University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT ANZ) score greater than or equal to the 50th percentile. This score is based on the combined scores of the first four cognitive sections (1-4) and excluding the situational judgement test. UTAS may adjust the UCAT ANZ threshold in order to admit students from disadvantaged and underrepresented groups to meet intake quotas. Interview - No interview Graduate Pathway - 2 pathways General graduate entry pathway - Meet the eligibility requirements, Register for the Graduate Medical School Admissions Test and Apply directly to the University of Tasmania. To be eligible, applicants must have: 1. Within 10 years prior to commencement in the Medicine Program, completed a Bachelor (AQF Level 7) degree or higher from an Australian education provider; OR 2. Within 10 years prior to commencement in the Medicine Program, completed a Bachelor (AQF Level 7) degree or higher from an International education provider, and maintained continuous registration for 5 years prior to commencement in the Medicine Program with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) or with an Australian State Veterinary registration authority. All applicants in the General Graduate Entry Pathway are required to have attained a minimumunweighted Grade Point Average of 6.5 in a completed Bachelor (Australian Qualifications Framework Level 7) degree or higher, as well as a minimum score of 50 in all three sections of the Graduate Medical School Admissions Test. Applicants will be ranked by combining the overall Graduate Medical School Admissions Test score and unweighted Grade Point Average. Bachelor of Medical Reserach Preferred Pathway - No UCAT or GAMSAT required Applicants must have: - In the year prior to commencement in the Medicine Program, completed the Bachelor of Medical Research at the University of Tasmania with no failures and no credit for recognition of prior learning. Selection rank will be based on the cumulative percentage average in units contributing to the award of the Bachelor of Medical Research. The Graduate Medical School Admissions Test and the University Clinical Aptitude Test are not required for the Bachelor of Medical Research Preferred Pathway. |
| Number of places | Medicine: From the 2023 intake there will be approximately 25 places for applicants with higher education study and 50% of these places will be allocated to students completing the UTAS Bachelor of Medical Research (BMedRes). at least 75% of domestic Yr12-leaver places will be offered to applicants who have completed a Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE) or International Baccalaureate (IB) at a Tasmanian High School or Secondary College. The University of Tasmania MBBS also has a quota of 50% domestic rural students. |
